Renate Gertrud Shultz, 79, of Copperas Cove, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, love, and devotion. Born in Marienbad, Germany, Renate (née Beer) embraced her heritage with pride throughout her life, and her journey took her from her beloved homeland to Texas, where she built a strong and loving family.
As a mother of four sons—Christopher Roland Murphree, Lester Weldon Murphree, Thomas Warren Murphree, and Robert Jürgen Murphree—Renate was the matriarch of her family, guiding and supporting her children with unwavering love. She was affectionately known as "Oma" and carried the title with pride, nurturing her nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, always passing on the cherished traditions of her roots.
Renate’s resilience was her hallmark. She was devoted to her family, never hesitating to help her children, offering her strength and wisdom to all. Her deep connection to her German heritage was reflected in her love for visiting local German cafés, bakeries, and shops with her friends and family, where she could embrace the language, culture, and memories.
As a devout Catholic, her faith anchored her through all of life’s joys and challenges.
Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” echoes her steadfast trust in God. Renate’s strong heart for others was evident through her work at Katy Christian Ministries, where she served her faith and community with compassion.
In her earlier years, Renate pursued her passion for interior design, a talent that translated into her ability to create beautiful, welcoming spaces in her own home. She was also gifted with a beautiful singing voice, and during her younger years, she graced lounges as a singer, sharing her talent with the world.
Though her departure was sudden, we take solace in knowing she is reunited with those she loved who passed before her. Renate lived a life of decency and honor, deeply devoted to her family and friends. Her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Renate is preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Anna Beer, her sisters Emilie Alanis, Anneliese Rupert, and Linda Matheny; her brothers Franz and Tony Beer; her husband, Major Dale Roger Shultz, and her son, Robert Jürgen Murphree.
She is survived by her sisters Ursula Robinson and Cornelia Noeth; her brother Peter Beer, her three sons, Christian Roland Murphree, Lester Weldon Murphree, and Thomas Warren Murphree, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Her spirit of kindness, strength, and unwavering love will continue to inspire us all. We will forever hold her close in our hearts as we celebrate the life she led.
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
May Renate rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and grace of our Lord.
