MSG (Ret.) Robert Farrell Savage passed away Monday morning with his loving family at his bed side. He was born on December 5, 1936 in Andalusia, AL. One of seven children to the late Ellis and Martha (Caylor) Savage.
Robert joined the US Army and served during the Vietnam War as a Tactical Communications Chief. His Military career allowed him to live in many States and Countries; to include Germany and Korea. Robert married Bessie Elaine Cooke in October of 1959. He and his lovely bride would later welcome four children into their lives.
MSG (Ret.) Savage served his Country as a member of the US Army for 23 years. After retirement he served as commander of the American Legion for 9 years, he was also a member of the Masons/Shriners. Robert enjoyed one term as City Councilman for 3 years. He was best known around town as the owner of Savage Auto Parts for more than 33 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Clint, Bill and Paul Savage and 2 sisters, Merle Fredieu and Ann Whitmore.
Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bessie Elaine Savage; 2 sons, Chamous Savage and wife Laura. Stanley Evans; 2 daughters, Leslie Evans and Lilly Ramos, and 1 sister, Nita Schofield and husband Jimmy. He will also be missed by 7 grandchildren; Corey Evans, Crystal Evans, Lindsey Savage, Cham Savage Jr., Kaylie Rowland, Lacey Spencer and Kelci Ramos; and 8 great-grandchildren; Corey Jr., Jenna, Jaselle, Karina, Skyela, Brayden, Jayce and Darren Jr.
The Savage family will receive guests for a time of visitation on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Copperas Cove. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Copperas Cove. Burial with full military honors will begin at 2:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
