Richard Edward Rose

Funeral Services for LTC (Ret) Richard E. Rose, 86, of Copperas Cove, will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Copperas Cove. Committal Service with full military honors will be 9:00 AM Monday, July 30, 2018, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Richard was born January 18, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Vincent G. and Helena Lynch Rose. He was raised in the Boston and Melrose area where he attended school. After graduating high school, Richard met and married the love of his life, Ann Cummings, on September 11, 1954, in Melrose, Massachusetts. He went to Northwestern University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. After college, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, served in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star Medal. He retired from the Army after 22 years of faithful and honorable service. After his military career, Richard obtained his Real Estate license and opened his own business, Rose Real Estate, in Copperas Cove and was still very active in the day to day business. He loved flowers and gardening, boating, fishing, and occasionally enjoying his favorite cigars, and basically everything outdoors. He was a member of the VFW Post # 8577 in Copperas Cove. Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 64 years, Ann Rose; his sons, Stephen Rose, Kevin Rose and Dennis Rose; his daughters, Deborah Pannabecker and Michelle White; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. A time of visitation will be 1:00-3:00 PM Sunday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove which is in charge of the arrangements.

I will always remember Dick knocking on our front door (Long Mountain) on Sundays pretending to need something but really looking for a Bloody Mary and we always obliged. Such a sweet man and he will be missed.

Biography

      Richard Edward Rose was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Richard will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

      Simply stated, Richard was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Richard leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Richard Edward Rose.
