

Rosemarie (Rose) Hotaling, 86, formerly of Copperas Cove (Huntsville, AL) passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2025. She was born on December 6, 1938 in Trinidad, West Indies. She was preceded in death by her parents Matilda and Tajmool Ghany, and siblings; Gabriel (Boise) Ghany, Mary Ann (Dolly) Garcia, Pearl Beale, Dorothy Steed, Carl Ghany, Louise Crombie, Conrad Ghany, and John Ghany.
Rose is survived by her husband Retired SFC Sherwood Hotaling, her children Retired LTC Sean (Jeanne) Hotaling of Huntsville, AL, Michele (Retired COL Don Moore) of Southlake, TX, her grandchildren Cameron and Connor Moore and her siblings; Theresa Vigil, Stanley Ghany, Margaret Ghany (twin sister) Errol Ghany, and many nieces and nephews.
Rosemarie was devoted to her husband of almost 64 years, her children, and grandchildren and to Holy Family Catholic Church of Copperas Cove. She was a member of the church for 50 years before moving to Alabama. She was a faithful servant of God.
Rose was a stay-at-home mom during her children’s formative years as they moved to and from various military bases. She began work as a bookkeeper for Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) in Baumholder, Germany. Returning to Copperas Cove, she continued to work with MWR on Fort Hood and retired in the early 90s.
She volunteered her time at Metroplex Hospital for several years. Rose spent countless hours as a volunteer at Holy Family Church and received the Lumen Gentium Award in 2011 from the Diocese of Austin. The Lumen Gentium Award is bestowed upon a Catholic member of the parish who has demonstrated by their life, service, and ministry participation in the mission of Christ Jesus and the Church.
Rosemarie served the parish as a member of the Holy Family Ladies’ Society, an extraordinary minister of holy Communion and sacristan. She worked behind the scenes and was always available to assist at weddings, funerals and weekend liturgies. She eased the work of others by her continual attention to detail. She was known to bake and share her breads and cheesecakes with church family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 23 at 11:00AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove. Interment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
