

Mrs. Roswitha (Rose) C. Orr passed on Sunday, December 7th at her home in Kempner. Visitation with her family will be Thursday, December 11th from 6pm to 8pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Services will be Friday, December 12th at Noon at Holy Family Catholic Church, Copperas Cove followed by burial at the Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Rose was born on May 11, 1944 in Bad-Durkheim, Germany to Friedrich Speichler and Ottilie Cacilie from an Austria-German bloodline. Her family moved to Kitchener, Ontario Canada in the mid 1950's and returned home to West Germany in 1964 where she completed her education.
After meeting Air Force Sgt. Guy Nathan Orr in 1965 at a Military German-American Dance in Darmstadt, Germany, she became his bride on March 11, 1966. They returned to the United States in 1967 stationed at Selfridge Air Force Base in Mount Clemens, Michigan where Sgt. Orr assumed duties as Chief of Operations and Training Division. After returning from a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 1st Combat Support Group, they moved to Pasadenda, Texas in 1971 where Rose earned her American citizenship in 1974. In 1976, the family established their home in Kempner.
Her active philanthropic service included 32 years with Texas-Oklahoma District Kiwanis International receiving the prestigious Hixon Fellowship Award and a membership in the Past Governors Association. She also supported the Boys and Girls Club -Coreyell County, and various organizations and charities.
Rose is survived by Guy, her son David, daughter-in-law Betsy, and their two children, Justin and Dylan of Kempner. Daughter, Tricia Cooper and son-in-law Bill of Denver, Colorado. She will be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, and Oma. Friends will remember her as an outspoken Copperas Cove Bulldog and S.C. Lee Cougar football fan, her infectious smile and caring heart.
