SFC (Ret) Namon Kelly Jr., also known as Corkie, age 79, of Copperas Cove, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Namon was born July 10, 1942 in De Quincy, Louisiana to parents Namon (Will) Kelly Sr. and Haney (Lou) Louise Kelly.
Namon honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. During his service, he was sent to Vietnam, Okinawa, Siagon, and Germany. He earned a Bronze star, National defense service medal, parachute badge, combat infantry badge, Vietnam service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal with 60 device, 3 overseas bars, Vietnam gallantry cross with palm, army commendation medal, and army good conduct medal. Namon retired in 1982, after serving 20 years.
Corkie later went to Central Texas College and earned his Associates degree in Equine Science. He loved ranching, riding and breaking horses, and fishing with his buddies; JR and Danny. He was a quirky man who always worked hard and was straight to the point. Namon loved his family most of all and treasured time with his children and grandchildren.
Cork is preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory sons, Jonathan (Chrissy) Kelly and Justin Kelly; daughters Erin Kelly, Lindsey Kelly and Jon, Tonya Kelly-Bratton, and Mary Ann Kelly, as well as his God-daughter Misty Rackley. He's also survived by his grandchildren Jordyn, Tristyn, Mason, Addison, Robbie Louis and great-grandson Braxton.
