He is survived by his wife Linda, his children, Pearl (Kevin), Audrey (Derrick), and Steven, his grandchildren Lillianna, BellaRose, Cruz and Jaxon and his five siblings Joey, Keta, Esther, Albert and David.
Stevie picked up his cross every day and, on that journey, he was involved in Worldwide Marriage Encounter for 22 years, volunteered for prison ministry at Mountain View with the ladies who loved him, supported him and prayed for him on his journey. He was a fourth-degree knight with the Knights of Columbus, sponsored candidates in the RCIA program, was a eucharistic minister and Lecter (and ---recently cantored at a daily mass lol). He helped in the beautification project of his beloved Holy Family Catholic Church. He never passed a homeless person without stopping to talk to them, pray with them, understand them and offering his home. He helped them in any way that they needed.
Stevie enlisted in the United States Army in September 1976 and retired as a Master Sergeant in March 1997. He was stationed in Germany, Fort Bliss and Fort Hood. He served as a Tank Platoon Sergeant in the Persian Gulf war where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart medal. Some of Stevie’s military decorations include the Purple Heart medal, Kuwait Liberation medal, and Rifle and Pistol Expert marksman badges. He was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Stevie retired from the Army on a Friday, and on Monday he was working at the Close Combat Tactical Training center on Fort Hood where he trained soldiers over the next 21 years.
A childhood memory Stevie shared often was riding to Placentia in the back of his dad’s truck with his siblings where they bounced around, threw oranges at each other, smelled the oranges, while they were on their way to the Sunkist Factory in SoCal. He met Linda in 1974 and they were married in December 1979. He was a father who gave his children their Catholic faith by standing by the words he said. He loved traveling with Linda to visit their children and grandchildren at all their duty stations, traveling to California where the most special things were visiting with siblings, in-laws, family reunions and making special memories, and travelling the world with Linda. He enjoyed hosting and visiting with friends, making sure his yard was pristine, and golfing.
Master Sergeant Stevie Jaramillo leaves behind a legacy of Faith, Family, and Country. His memory will forever live on through those privileged to know and love him.
