

He was born September 1, 1941 in Kissimmee, Florida to Stewart and Elizabeth Roberts.
Pete attended Cypress Fairbanks School from 1951-1960 and graduated from Aldine High School in Houston in 1960. He enlisted in the Army in 1961 and was stationed in Germany for over 4 years, Vietnam for over 2 years and Okinawa for almost 5 years.
During his career in the Army he graduated from the Infantry Officer’s Candidate School, Fort Benning, Georgia. After his long tour with MACV, Binh Hoa he returned to the states and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha under the Bootstrap Program, this is where he met his wife, Lina and they married in June of 1971. He received his Master of Science in Systems Management from Florida Institute of Technology, a Master of Arts in Human Resources Management from Pepperdine University and a Master of Education in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Maryland.
During his tour in Okinawa he obtained a lifetime teaching certificate from the State of California to teach at community colleges. He taught courses in real estate and management for Los Angeles Community College in Okinawa. He was a licensed Texas Real Estate Broker. During his tour in Okinawa he also studied Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Matsurma Orthodox Karate where he was awarded his Black Belt. Pete continued his passion for Karate under Master John Shipes of Athens, Texas where he received his second degree Black Belt.
He retired from active duty in 1981 and in 1983 began a civil service career as a Management Analyst at the III Corps Resource Management Office and retired after 16 years in 1999.
Pete will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a loving father and husband. He was full of energy and life. He was an avid fan of Copperas Cove Football and the Texas Longhorns. He has traveled the World with his wife, Lina and son, Glenn. He and Glenn were avid outdoorsmen, who loved hiking, camping, mountain climbing and sightseeing. The only thing he was not able to do that he wanted to do was climb the mountains of Tibet.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lina; his two children, daughter, Janet McCormick and her husband Richard of Dale, Texas and son, Glenn Roberts of Portland, Oregon both of whom have graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. He is also survived by his father, Stewart Roberts of Copperas Cove; a sister, Judy of Beaumont, Texas and two grandchildren Katie and Kelsey.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Roberts, a brother, Stephen and a sister, Dusty.
The Roberts family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2012 in the chapel of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Interment services will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors.
