She was born October 16, 1928, in Monroe County, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Alvis Andrew Frederick and Lula Bell Lindsey Frederick, the 9th of 18 children.
Verdean was preceded in death by her husband; Lester Eugene Sharp, a daughter; Vicki Diane Schmille, one grandson; Steven Christopher Sharp, both parents, 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
She graduated from Hatley High School, Hatley Miss. in 1947, the Valedictorian of her class. She was an All-Star Basketball player, Editor of her high school paper and the Secretary/Treasurer of her Graduating class.
She spent 37 years with Civil Service where she was well known and admired.
Active in her community, she was a member of the Copperas Cove VFW and MOCA Pup Tent 13 for over 50 years. Her devotion to service work and passion to Military Veterans led to countless hours volunteering for 45 years with the Veteran Affairs Volunteer Service.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she is survived by her son; Paul Frederick Sharp, step-son; Michael Eugene Sharp, her grandchildren; Cari Marie Polasek, William Eugene Sharp, Amber Marie Sharp, Catherine Nicole Pannell, Jacob Ryan Schmille, Joshua Isaac Schmille, Jeremy Graham, Emily Kay (Millie) McBride, Michael Eugene Sharp Jr, great-grandchildren; Steven Cole Tolliver, Celes Graham, Natalie Schmille, Ashley Schmille, Sydney Schmille, Erin Schmille, Darby McBride, and Parker Pannell.
She is also survived by 5 sisters from her home state of Mississippi including; Mr. & Mrs. Joel & Jewel Levy, Judy Cox, Linda Hughes, Oakley (Sis) Sloan, and Maddy Jean Upton.
She also leave many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Memorial services are pending cremation and will be held at the Copperas Cove VFW when scheduled.
