

Wanda graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1967, attended Southwest Texas College, and earned her Bachelor Degree in 1971.
A devoted and faithful presence throughout her life, Wanda poured her heart into both her home and her calling. She taught Texas history and coached girls sports at Copperas Cove Junior High and S.C. Lee Junior High, serving CCISD from 1971 until her retirement in 2009. She loved children and found great joy in her career, offering steady guidance and care to generations of students.
Wanda’s greatest pride was her family. She raised two daughters, Shannon and Kim, and treasured her two grandchildren—her beloved “M&M’s,” Mason and Marina.
She was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies. Wanda was also a breast cancer survivor, meeting that season of life with enduring strength.
Wanda was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was also apart of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 1070 and the Daughters of the Nile, reflecting a life grounded in faith and enriched by community.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents Darrell and Fannie Gent; her sister, Sandra Cartwright; and her niece, Jennifer Foster McGowan.
She is survived by her two daughters; Shannon Roth and husband Brian of Pflugerville and Kim Smith and husband Stewart of Bastrop, along with her two grandchildren Marina Roth and Mason Smith. She also leaves her nephews Britt Taylor, DJ Taylor, and Josh McGrew.
A Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 3rd at Grace United Methodist Church, followed by the Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Brad Slaten at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Moody Cemetery at a later date.
