On August 18, 1963, William married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Long in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Together, they shared 61 years of marriage. William joined the United States Army in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War. He retired in 1987 with the rank of Master Sergeant.
William is preceded in death by his parents, David WIlliam Long and Repsy Clara Belle Stewart (Melvin), and his brother Millard Randolph Scott.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; two daughters, Donna Hough and Connie Duncan; grandchildren Jodi Carpenter, Emma Duncan, Deana Holman, and Sarah Machuca; as well as his great grandchildren Joseph Carpenter, Julianne Carpenter, Benson Balsamo, Tristan Holman.
A Memorial Service for William will be held at 12PM on Friday October 4th at the Cove Church of Nazarene. A Graveside Service will follow at 2PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
