Bailey Robert Williams, Sr.
Bailey Robert Williams, Sr. died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021 at his home in Corinth. A private family service is set for 1 pm Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with interment at Henry Cemetery. Bailey was born in Corinth on July 29, 1936 to the late Dr. Fayette Williams and Margaret Schumpert Williams. After graduating from Corinth High School in 1955, he received his B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of MS. In 1968, he founded Bailey Williams Insurance Agency, followed by Bailey Williams Realty in 1970. The business recently celebrated its 50 year anniversary. He was honored by the City of Corinth Board of Mayor and Aldermen with the key to the city for his hand in promoting Corinth for 50 years.
Bailey's real estate endeavors included the development or co-development of Creekwood, Deer Park, The Oaks, Shadowood, Cedar Creek, Dogwood Park, Pickwick Road Estates, Meadowbrook, and Beauregard Park subdivisions in Corinth and Alcorn Co., as well as Elk's Landing, Short Coleman, and Coleman Park subdivisions, and Lakecrest Condos in Tishomingo Co. He was also heavily involved in the reinvestment efforts of downtown Corinth's business district.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as Elder Emeritus. Bailey was a member of the Rotary Club of Corinth and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award. He also had the pleasure of being involved with the Mississippi Association of Realtors, Pickwick Yacht Club and Sigma Chi Fraternity. Bailey enjoyed volunteering at the AMEN Food Pantry and Lighthouse Foundation in Corinth.
Bailey was a true gentleman and never met a stranger. His absence will be felt by all who knew him. He had a deep love for Corinth and said he felt bad for people who didn't get to experience life here. He enjoyed a life of boating, including earning a US Coast Guard Captains license. He was also an avid Ole Miss fan.
Bailey is survived by his wife, Gloria Dixon Williams; daughter, Melinda Roux (Jeffrey); son Robert Williams (Sallie Kate); grandchildren Andrew Roux, Bailey Roux, Margaret Roux, Mimi Williams, Trey Williams, and Kate Walker Williams; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends and family.

Bailey was one of the best friends ever and he taught me to water ski. He had planned for us to get together this past summer at the lake and take Kay and I on a ride in that boat, but the virus kept us from meeting. He surely will be missed.

My name is Julie and I knew Bailey from Roser Church. I worked in the office at Roser and also saw him on many Sunday mornings. He was one of the first friendly, kind people I met there.
I enjoyed many wonderful conversations with him. I will sure miss seeing him and feel blessed to have known him, even for such a short while.
I will be praying for Gloria and all of Bailey’s family in the coming weeks. I am so very sorry to have heard of his passing.

I am so saddened to hear of my dear friend Bailey Williams passing! Over the years Bailey brought so much joy into so many lives! He loved his community, Gloria, his children and grandchildren! When we lived in Corinth I loved Bailey's humorous stories he would tell some of his clients! I loved the boat rides he would give the KC Mill people, I loved how he would try to scare us during Halloween with his decorations! I loved how he was a great part of the Corinth community! Lastly, I loved sharing a birthday with Bailey! Over the years Bailey would call me on "our birthday"! We (Plesnarski family) left Corinth around 1996 and here at 2020 he called me to wish me a great day! My heart is saddened to lose him but I am blessed to have known him! Please know that our thoughts and prayers are being sent to you , Gloria, and your sweet family... Bailey loved you and was so proud of all of you!

Bailey always smiled, gave me one nod, and said “Hey, how ya doing today?”
Never failed. Eric says the same about him!
I had the pleasure of volunteering with him at AMEN food pantry. Short little chats but fun to be around him. I’d say “Grab that loaf of bread and I’ll grab the meat!” Hahahaaa He’d smile and say “ok!”
I know he will be missed by so many people in this community. I’m thankful that he is Home. 💜
