Barbara Louise McDowell

Mrs. McDowell died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born in Corinth on March 16, 1926 to the late Harry Bruce and Ophelia Green Allen. She was a great family cook that enjoyed making chicken and dressing, chocolate pies, rutabagas, and pinto beans. She loved roses and spoiling her grand and great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman McDowell; one brother, Lawrence Allen and wife Maudie; and a brother in laws, Vance Leonard, Earnest McDowell, Jimmy McDowell and wife Betty, and Jimmy Vanderford.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Carter and husband Wesley; three sons, O’Neal McDowell, Garry McDowell and wife Carolyn, and Greg McDowell and wife Marsha; one brother, James Reed Allen and wife Mabel; one sister, Mary Jewel Leonard; two sister-in-laws, Ruby McDowell and Marilyn Vanderford; five grandchildren, Jasen Carter and wife Kellie, Stacey Carter and wife DeAnna, Blake McDowell and wife Angie, Cayla McDowell, and Logan McDowell; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
