Betty Jean Derrick

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2pm on Friday September 11,2026 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Bro. Floyd Lamb officiating. Visitation will be held from 5pm on Thursday until service time on Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Betty was born on November 9,1942 in Alcorn County, MS and was the first born to the late Cecil and Elvie Settlemires. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and spent her life working hard and caring for others. She enjoyed cooking and was well known for her pinto beans, cornbread and fried chicken. She loved music, especially bluegrass and buck dancing. Betty retired from MRHC and later Kossuth Elementary School.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Autry Derrick and brother W.C Settlemires.

Autry and Betty raised two wonderful daughters, whom they adored; Wanda (Mike) Garrett and Rhonda Mullins (Bill Morris). They helped raise two granddaughters that were the light of their lives: Chelsea (Shawn) Kelley and Molly Mullins (fiancée Zach Wood). They have two great grandsons, Brentlee Tate Waldon and Garrett Waldon and one great granddaughter Zoe Kelley.

She is also survived by two sisters; Joann Mills and Pam (David) Moss, one brother; Ray (Faye) Settlemires, one sister-in-law, Laura Settlemires, special friend Vesta Hudson and was loved by a host of nieces and nephews.
