Carolyn Harrison, 81, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2020 following medical illness.
She was proceeded in death by her father, Jessie Cecil Russell, mother Frances Nowlin Russell, brother Roger Earl Russell (Mary), and aunt Mary Elizabeth Nowlin.
Carolyn was born on September 1, 1938 in Corinth, Mississippi. She graduated from Corinth High School in 1956 and later married raising two daughters in Montgomery, AL. After retiring from the State of Alabama Forestry Department, she took an opportunity to see the United States by walking trails in every state with the Capital City Wanderers Walking Club. Carolyn loved Corinth and was excited after retirement to have the opportunity to move back home to be near her brother, his family and all of her former classmates she lovingly referred to as “the girls”. She enjoyed opportunities to show off the Corinth community to visitors to include the High School, Civil War Battleground, Dilworth’s Tamale shop, Borroum’s Drug Store and her favorite place to eat, Hagy’s Catfish Hotel. Carolyn loved to shop, craft and work in the yard. She attended the First United Methodist Church and often spoke of her Bible study Challenger class and their current studies.
Carolyn always had a strong commitment to making sure others were cared for. She could often be seen visiting nursing homes and frequenting gravesites to make sure fresh floral arrangements were always in place for those that had passed. She wanted her loved ones to be safe and healthy. You could always count on her to inform you of approaching storms and the need to take shelter. You could count on her to give health advice. If you needed her to do something for you, you knew she would always come through for you. This motion of tenacity throughout her life was noted in her youth by achieving the highest honor given in girl scouts, the Curve Bar Award. Carolyn was in constant motion. Her energy will be missed.
Carolyn is survived by daughters; Cecelia Grace H. Pugh (Kenneth) and Julia Marie H. Ingram (Michael), grandchildren; Taylor Marie Prince (Clint), Emily Anne Milne, and Andrew Daniel Bolan, great-grandchildren; Conner Foucault, Haley Foucault, Harrison Prince and Hendrix Hayes Prince.
A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, June 5 at 1:00, Henry Cemetery, Corinth, MS officiated by Pastor Joe Landrum of First United Methodist Church.
