Corinth, MS
Services to celebrate the life of Charles Ray Kinkennon, 69, will be at held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at McPeters Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forrest Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm Tuesday evening at McPeters Funeral Directors and from 12:00pm until service time on Wednesday.
Charles passed on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in Tupelo. He was born in Gunnison, MS on April 8, 1947 to the late Clifford Price and Lola Anette Reeves Kinkennon Sr. Charles was a devoted father and grandfather, who loved his family very much. He graduated from Kossuth High School where he was the American Legion Award Recipient. He attended Northeast Community College for 4 years with a degree in auto body repair, serving as Treasurer of Veterans Club on campus. Charles was a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army in company C 1st Battalion 32nd Infantry, 7th division, 8th Army from 1967 until 1969. He served the infantry in the Republic of Korea on the DMZ where he earned his DMZ badge. He was and employee of ITT for 25 years, Plexsys for 4 years and World Color 6 months before they closed. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the American Legion and a longtime member of the National Rifle Association. He loved riding motorcycles and traveling.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Charles Ray Kinkennon Jr. and sister Wanda Louise Kinkennon Hopkins.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Doris Marie Kinkennon; sons, Douglas Edward Kinkennon of Ramer, TN., David Allen (Jaime) Kinkennon of Corinth; brothers Clifford Price (Dinah) Kinkennon, John Wesley Kinkennon both of Corinth, MS.; sister Sandra Kay Kinkennon (Alex Ray) Warren of Tupelo, MS.; grandchildren Shelton Tanner, Sheldon Ronnie, Sailor Makaide and Samuel Cutter Kinkennon of Selmer, TN; step-grandchildren Katie Willis of Corinth, MS; Jacob and Jordan Murphy of Savannah, TN.
