Charlie Miskelly, 75, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2026 at his residence in Corinth. He was born in Ripley, MS on August 29, 1950 to the late Willeta and Lester Miskelly. Charlie graduated from Ripley High School in 1968. His athletic ability afforded him the opportunity to play many sports including basketball at NEMJC. He later graduated from MS State and obtained his master's degree from UNA.
He began his over 40 year educational career at Kossuth High School as a math teacher and later a guidance counselor. He coached all sports with basketball being his favorite. From there he became the middle school assistant principal at Corinth. After his retirement in MS, Charlie became the assistant principal at McNairy Central High School. He was appointed McNairy Co. Director of Schools, where he stayed for many years.
Upon retirement from education, Charlie got a part time job delivering parts for Auto Zone, a job that he truly loved. He was a conversationalist, so you can imagine the "gabbing" that went on at each stop.
His true retirement involved dog sitting, watching game shows, The Andy Griffith Show and most important, Gunsmoke. He also spent a great deal of time taking care of his family.
Charlie was a lifelong member of Palmer Baptist Church in Ripley and 1st Baptist Church in Corinth. God blessed Charlie with many wonderful friends, many being former students. He always took time to talk with them and find out about their families; they were part of his family.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ruck, Johnny, Ricky, Bruce and their wives; and one sister, Barbara (John Bill).
Charlie and Judy were married for 53 years and had two children, Meredith (Ryan) and Jake Miskelly. He is also survived by grandson, Griffin. (None of us compare to Griffin in Charlie's Eyes; he was so proud of him and we often said that he would trade all of us for Griffin. Griffin's "toot toot" let us know each day how much he loved him and how proud he was of him.) Charlie also has four granddogs that were very important to him, Max, Jack, C.J. and Dinger. He would often be seen getting breakfast for us with Max riding shotgun. Charlie is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be from 1pm until 3pm on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Memorial Funeral Home. There will be a private family graveside at Henry Cemetery with Cole Sanders officiating.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to The Children's Home in Tupelo or Corinth Animal Shelter.
Online condolences may be left at www.memorialfuneral.com for the Miskelly family.
Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
