Graveside service for Hilton "Dale" Walker will be held Tuesday, June 4, at 6:00 PM at Henry Cemetery with Dr. Leonard Pratt presiding.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held mid afternoon July 7, 2024 at the Hope Vineyards, Eastview TN.
Dale was born in Bethel Springs, TN, July 2, 1931, He grew up with a family that loved gardening and nature. He was a 1949 graduate of Bethel Springs High School and furthered his education at Memphis State University where the love of Tiger basketball stemmed. Dale’s profession as a surveyor supervisor took him around the world to places such as Germany and Vietnam both during and post war times to help rebuild the countries. Once back in the United States, his skill sets lead him in the construction of famous locations such as the Memphis Levee, Mud Island, Tombigbee Waterway, NASA’s John Stennis Space Center and the San Antonio Riverwalk. Dale finished his professional career with the Millington Naval Base as a project manager.
His love of the hunting, fishing, and gardening became easier upon retirement. Dale married Ann Dickson Walker and they have made their home in Corinth. Their home is flanked annually with beautiful trees, colorful flowers, and a bountiful garden. He was instrumental in the architecture design of their home remodeling project. One of his most favorite activities as member of the Alcorn County Master Gardeners, was designing and planting the stunning roses around the courthouse in downtown Corinth.
He and Ann enjoyed many days of bridge with local friends, traveling to the Mississippi gulf coast, fishing with old and new friends, and weekly dinners with their church friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, B.F. Walker and Willie Plunk Walker; brothers, Ansel Walker, Larry Walker, Johnny Walker, Ray Walker, and Weldon Walker; and sisters, Kathleen Brickey, Mary Jane Kernodle, and Mildred Wagster.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Dickson Walker; his children, Gale Tyltandsvik and John Walker; stepdaughter, Beth Barber Jones; sister, Judith McAfee; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and twenty-one nieces and nephews.
