
David Moss Williams was born in Memphis,TN on August 16,1954 and passed away on Tuesday March 5, 2024 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS. He was a faithful member if St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Millington, TN and most recently attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Corinth.
David was preceded in death by his son Jamey William; parents, Jim and Jean Williams; brothers, Chris Williams and Mike Williams.
David leaves behind his wife Sherrye Williams; sisters, Helen Hernandez and Beverly Williams (Danny); brother, Larry Williams (Roberta); sisters-in-law, Cindy Day and Pam Weatherford (David); granddaughter Shynee Williams and a host of nieces and nephews. David also leaves a legacy of cherished friends that he considered family.
In 1981, David married the love of his life, Sherrye Diane Mathis. Together they built a precious family with their son Jamey and granddaughter Shyenne. David was a 1972 graduate of Bartlett High School, After graduating high school attended and graduated from State Technical Institute and served in the United States Navy. David has a multifaceted career beginning at Skip's Dairy Bar on Jackson Avenue, working on a riverboat and as a chimney sweep before moving into more serious work as a homebuilder/construction and finished his professional career with the City of Bartlett as a Code Enforcement Officer.
David had a standing appointment for over 40 years with beloved buddy, Bill McCrary, every Thursday night, come rain or shine, to play racquetball followed by food, fun, and fellowship. Another favorite for David was traveling with Sherrye, Shyenne, and long time best friends, Lee and Kathy Waterbury.
A service to honor David's life will be held at St. Philip's Episcopal Church located at 9380 Davis Plantation Road Memphis, TN on Saturday March 16,2024 beginning at 11am. Visitation will be from 10am until service time at the church. A brief graveside service will be held immediately afterwards at Memorial Gardens at 3700 N Germantown Road Memphis, TN.
David (Pappy) will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and family friend. His warmth, wit, wisdom and compassion will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
Generosity was one of David's many gifts, not only monetarily but also in giving of his time and talents. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to one of his favorite charities which include St.Anne's Episcopal Church Millington, TN, Memphis Area Prevention Coalition, and Confidential Care Mobile Ministry.
