

Celebration of Life Service for Dora Jane Dilworth, 89, will be Saturday, May 30th at 11am at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hinkle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am until service time at the funeral home.
Dora Jane passed away on May 10, 2026. She was born on March 6, 1937 in Benton, TN to the late John Henry and Arva Bolt Dilworth. She graduated from Biggersville High School in 1955. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Science and English from Blue Mountain College in 1960.
From 1966 to 1969, Dora Jane proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a First Lieutenant, earning an honorable discharge for her dedicated service. Pursuing her passion for education, she attained her Master of Education degree from Memphis State University in 1973.
Dora Jane devoted her career to teaching, focusing on special education in Ashland City, TN. Her deep love of history inspired her active participation in various historical organizations. She had a lifelong enthusiasm for preserving and exploring the past.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Hensley McFadden Dilworth; and sisters, Margaret Stout, Frances Freeman, and Elizabeth Costley.
She is survived by her sister, Sarah Trelawney and numerous nieces and nephews.
