

Celebration of Life with Military Honors for J. P. Atkins III is set for 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Ludlum officiating. Burial will be in the Henry Cemetery.
J. P. died September 1, 2016 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. He was born March 2, 1926 in Acton, TN. to the late J.P. Atkins II and Lydia Atkins. J.P. was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army, was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church and retired from Columbia Gulf Transmission Co. He and his wife Julia Faye enjoyed traveling and spending ti0me with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Julia Faye Tyson Atkins; sons Phil Atkins, Jackie Atkins, Tim Atkins; daughter Julene (Mike) Harden; grandchildren Steven (Lawanda) Harden, Jay (Rachel) Atkins, Dr. Blakley (Jake) Fowler, Clint Atkins, Lydia Atkins; great grandchildren Kane Harden, Elsie, Cooper and Browning Atkins, Mac and Nyles Fowler. Host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers Jerry Tyson, Billy Wayne Tyson, David Tyson, Steven Harden, Clint Atkins, Donnas Tyson.
Family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 until service time.
