Jan Smith

A service to celebrate the life of Jan Smith, 81, will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens in Collinwood, TN. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until service time. Bro. Chuck Hassell will officiate the service.

Jan passed away on October 28, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Collinwood, TN to the late Ralph W. and Clarice Cummins Smith. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a barber right out of high school. He worked alongside his father and brother until moving to Columbus, MS in 1967. Eventually, he moved to Corinth, where he retired as the owner and operator of Jan's Barber Shop. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his great-grandchildren. He was a Christian and loved the Lord.

Jan is survived by his daughters, Michelle Smith (Jerry) and Christy Smith; grandchildren, Cary Sanders, Paige Latch, Anna Crum (Austin), Sarah Latch, and Chandler Latch; great-grandchildren, Noah Smith, River Crum and Tatum Crum; sister, Jane Wilkerson (Jim); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Smith; granddaughter, Jana Shae Sanders; brother, Buck Smith (Penny); and son-in-law, John Latch.

Pallbearers are Cary Sanders, Chandler Latch, Jerry Rencher, Austin Crum, Ricky Hancock, Tyler Sharp, Derrick Blackwell and Daniel Haisch.
