It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Edward Orman, a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, and longtime community volunteer. John departed this world on December 23, 2023. He was 47 years old.
Born on January 30, 1976 in Corinth, MS, John was the son of Janet Labas Orman and David Orman. From a young age, he exhibited a passion for baseball and a lifelong love of his favorite team the Chicago Cubs. This passion continued to shape his life in profound ways. One of his many joys in his life was coaching his boys and the teams for which they played. Maybe lesser known, he was an excellent dancer and starred as Drosselmeyer in the Nutcracker for several years. John was a graduate of Corinth High School Class of 1994 and a graduate of Mississippi State University, where he earned his degree in Banking and Finance. He was employed by Tintri, a global AI-Powered Data Management company.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a man of immense generosity and kindness. He dedicated himself to numerous charitable endeavors, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His commitment to community service left an indelible mark on the lives of many. He served as President of the Corinth Rotary Club and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow, President of Main Street Corinth and was a Jack Hora Award recipient, President of the Corinth Area Arts Council, Board member of the City of Corinth Planning Commission, member of the Alcorn County Republican Executive Committee, founding member of the Veranda-Curlee House Preservation Foundation, and founding member of the Downtown Athletic Club. In addition to his civic activities, John also served faithfully at First Presbyterian Church as Chairman of the Board of Deacons and also as an Elder.
John's greatest joy in life, however, came from his role as a devoted family man. He married the love of his life, Jennifer Mattox Orman, in 2003, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. John was a loving father to John Edward Orman, Jr. and William Mattox Orman, imparting upon them the values of integrity and hard work.
His zest for life was contagious, and he was known for his infectious laughter and positive outlook. John's presence in any room brought warmth and comfort to those around him. In addition to his family and friends, John leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and a commitment to making the world a better place. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
May John Edward Orman rest in eternal peace and may his memory continue to inspire and uplift us all.
Services to Celebrate John's life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church of Corinth, with the Rev. Waring Porter officiating. A private burial will follow the service at the Henry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11am until service time at the church.
