Joseph “Big Red” Jones

Celebration of life service for Joseph "Big Red" Michael Jones 63, are set for 1:00 pm. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home with his nephews officiating Bro. Joe Marsh and Bro. Daniel Brookman. Burial will follow in the Forrest Memorial Park.

Receiving of family and friends for “Big Red” will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. and from 12:00 to service time Saturday.

Red died January 23, 2019 at NMMC in Tupelo, MS. He was born November 7, 1955 in Corinth, MS. to Joseph Jones and Frances Gant Jones. He was of the Baptist faith, a retired carpenter. He graduated from of Kossuth High School in 1974 where he got his name “Big Red” playing football. He enjoyed hummingbirds, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Jones; brother, Vernon Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Grace Rainey Jones; mother, Frances Jones; son, Michael Jones III (Shonda); daughter, Jessie Wilbanks (Zach); brothers, James Jones (Teresa), Reggie Jones, Brian Jones; sisters, Rhonda Stevens (Bubba), Deborah Glidewell (Wayne), Donna Pettigrew; special great nephew, Noah Jalla; host of nieces, nephews; other family and friends.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

I have so many memories , all good . He was one of the funnest school bus drivers I had . A fun good hareted person . I feel blessed to have know him .
