Mrs. Gurley passed away on September 28, 2026 at Mississippi Care Center. She was born in Duckhill, MS on May 1, 1928 to the late Chris and Cleo Barnes Byrd. She was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church and church was a big part of her life. She was a cafeteria worker at Kossuth High School and loved taking care of her cats and her home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Freeman Gurley; her brother, James Byrd; and her sisters, Wilma, Ople Ezell and Marie Martin.
She is survived by her son, Danny Gurley; grandsons, Justin (Grace) Gurley and Jason Gurley; and a great-granddaughter, Thea Gurley.
