Lucinda "Cindy" Cornelius

Celebration of Life Service for Lucinda (Cindy) Jane Cornelius 85, are set for 3:00 Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Overton Hill Church near Walnut, with Bro. Kenneth Drewery and Bro. Travis Shea officiating. Burial will be in the Overton Hill Cemetery

Family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 9:00 and Wednesday from 2:00 until service time, all at Overton Hill Church

Lucinda (Cindy) Jane Cornelius, a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, parted into his loving arms on March 11, 2019, at 7:50 a.m.

Cindy was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She exemplified the Proverbs 31 Woman. Cindy was a true homemaker and from that home her days were loving devoted to serving and caring for her family, friends, and community. She was a little old fashioned with quiet ways, but her strong Christian faith and her joyful spirit extended to everyone she met. She was a source of godly wisdom to those around her. She was known for her exceptional cooking especially fried pies, her beautiful gardens, and most of all the unconditional love she extended to all she met.

Lucinda “Cindy” Buchanan Cornelius of Walnut is survived by her sons: Ricky (Susan) Cornelius of Nettleton, MS, Teddy (Stacey) Cornelius of Walnut, MS, Faben Cornelius of Corinth, MS, Jesse (Kristy) Cornelius of Nettleton, MS, Sammy (Allison) Cornelius of Corinth, MS, his daughters: Patsy Cornelius of New Albany, MS, Pam Montanaro (Mike) of Walnut, MS, and Rebecca Cornelius of Walnut, MS. Thirteen grandchildren: Robert (Mollie) Cornelius of Columbus, MS, Will Cornelius, Brady Cornelius, and Adam Cornelius of Nettleton, MS, Ashley Cornelius and Dakota Cornelius of Guntown, MS, Alex Tyler, Claire Cornelius, Sophia Cornelius, Sara-Chloe Cornelius of Corinth, MS, Katy Tyler of Houston, MS, Morgan Cornelius of Walnut, MS, and Jana Faith Cornelius of New Albany, MS and two great-grandchildren, John Henry Cornelius of Columbus, MS and Axel Ray Williams of Guntown, MS. Two sisters, Gail (Billy) Eaton and Dianne (Ron) Saine; one brother, Dennis (Gertud) Buchanan and one special nephew, Gene (Sue) Eaton.

Cindy was preceded in death by her husband, Willie F. Cornelius, her son, Gary Franklin Cornelius, grandson, Steven Franklin Cornelius, her father, Garrett Buchanan and mother Clytie Newby Buchanan, her sisters Annie Bell Michaels (Harley) and Ruby Mask, and her brother Fredrick “Bud” Buchanan (Joyce) and Taylor (Lila Sue) Buchanan, and special nephew James (Janis).

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearer are Kerry Fiveash, Avis Wilbanks, Bud Wilbanks, Harris Fiveash, Ray Wilbanks, Ray Porterfield, Travis Drewery, Howard Newby, Roy Newby Troy Newby, James Box, Darlene Stokes, Melissa Michaels, Marlania Phyfer, and Eddie Ray Michaels.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to Gideons International or American Cancer Society.

Aunt Cindy I will never forget the days when I was little and ever time I would come to your house u would always say r u hungry no matter what anybody said u would always get up and start cooking and your food was amazing I remember going fishing feeding the fish having family time was always your thing you had love for everyone I will miss you dearly but I know you ain’t hurting no more and u r in heaven with all that you have lost Thanks For Being A Amazing Aunt R.I.P Aunt Cindy Love You
