Memorial services celebrating the life of Lynn Gant Hinton will be held Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time, with Bro. Kara Blackard and Bro. Josh Westmoreland officiating.
Lynn passed away on January 26, 2026, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born on April 28,1954, in Corinth to the late W.R. “Bill” and Jewel Gant. A 1972 graduate of Kossuth High School, Lynn later returned to serve as a substitute teacher.
Lynn married her high school sweetheart, Ray, in 1972, and they shared 53 wonderful years together. Alongside her husband, Lynn was an active member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, and together they taught Sunday School until her health began to fail.
Lynn found joy in writing, singing, playing the piano, and discussing her faith—particularly the joys of heaven and end-times prophecy. She never missed an opportunity to share where her hope came from. Above all, her greatest happiness came from time spent with her family, whom she cherished deeply.
Lynn is survived by her husband, Ray Hinton; daughter, Julie Mitchell (Reed); son, Grant Hinton (Kelly); grandchildren, Serra James (Desmond), John Mitchell (Brittany), Zack Mitchell (Kristi), Jacob Hinton, Anslie Mitchell, Eli Hinton, Ethan Mitchell, Joshua Hinton, and Beau Hinton; great-grandchildren, Lizzie, Dac, Ellie, and Emmie Mitchell, and Torren, Dellah, Dezzi, and Dash James.
In addition to her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by her son, Michael Hinton; brothers, Bill Oscar Gant, Tom Gant, Dan Gant (Nelda), and Philip Gant; sister, Virginia “Ginger” Maness; sisters-in-law, Barbara Hinton and Betty Hinton; brother-in-law, Edward Hinton; and her parents-in-law, G.E. and Sarah Maxine Hinton.
Lynn is also survived by her brother, Roger Gant (Betty); sisters, Cathy Meteer (Mike) and Nita Wolfe (Joel); brothers-in-law, Wayne Maness, Otis Hinton (Ann), and Frank Hinton; and sisters-in-laws, Janie Gant, Mary Gant, Glenna Gant, and Wanza Benson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wheeler Grove Baptist Church Choir Fund.
