Mrs. Gilmore died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. She was born on November 16, 1941 to the late Joe Kirgus “Kirk” and Ruth Browder South. She was a graduate of Michie High School Class of 1959 and retired from Refreshments, Inc. She met the love of her life in 1959, Troy Gilmore and they have spent the last 55 years together as a happy couple.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1982, her mother in 2003, and one sister, Ina Ruth South in 1951.
Along with her husband, Troy; Mrs. Gilmore is survived by her daughter, Tammy Rowland and husband Greg; one son, Tommy Gilmore and wife Sandra; one sister, Sylvia Suitor and husband Jerry; two brothers, Jimmy South and wife Jo, and Joe South and wife Carole; four grandchildren, Matt and Alex Rowland, Leah Hadder and Shelby Gilmore; two sisters-in-law, Betty Maness and Betty Gilmore; two brothers-in-law, Johnny Gilmore and wife Bettie, and Mac Gilmore and wife Sharon; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
