Richard Reed, age 77, left to be with his lord on September 25th at his residence. He was born in McNairy County on July 23, 1941 to the late Clytee Reed Johnson and Malcom Reed. He graduated from Ramer High School in 1959 and was the first male cheerleader at Ramer High School. He went on to serve in the Army from 1966 to 1968 and also served 12 years in the Mississippi National Guard. He was the Alcorn County Veterans Service officer for 16 years. he loved helping the veterans and their families. He was Post Commanders Adjutant for American Legion Post 6 Corinth for several years. In 2001 he was elected the State of Mississippi American Legion Department Commanders for 2001-2002; a job he was honored to serve. Richard was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his good friends, Joe and Pearl Gurley.
He is survived by his caregiver, Joan Reed; brother, Ira Johnson of Corinth; sister, Christine Crum (Paul) of Wilderville, TN and a son, Richard Reed of Pontotoc.
Bro. Alan Parker will officiate the service.
