Celebration of Life Service for Sammy Neal McDonald, 74, of Guys, TN is set for 2:00 pm Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Edwards and Bro. Zack Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Gardens.
Mr. McDonald died Monday, October 7, 2019 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. Sammy was a graduate of Michie High School, who loved horses and dogs, was a carpenter and a truck driver for most of life. He was a retired scalesman for Securitas in Counce, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Minnie McDonald; brothers, Clayton, Ernest, Hubert, Leonard, Johnny and Odell McDonald; sisters, Melinda Smith, Bertha Davis, Jessie Hall, Faye Blackwell, Ruby Barnes, Jewell Coleman and Cathy Rorie.
He is survived by his daughters, Cindy (Stan) Vanhaitsma, Janet (A. J. Tigrett) Holley; sister, Joann McDonald; grandchildren, Jessica (Grant) Davis, Laura (Adam) Thornton, Desiree (Bruce) Gentry; Great-grandchildren, Slayte Davis, Kendra Crum and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chad Potts, Grant Davis, Glen Baker, Sam Baker, Craig Holley and Bruce Gentry.
Visitation will be held Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday 12:00 until service time at Memorial Funeral Home.

Sammy was a dear friend of mine. If not for him I would have never learned my job. The one that was training me didn't want me to learn the job and Sammy knew this so he helped me tremendously. Everyone sure missed him when he retired. So go rest high on that mountain my friend.

I remember Sammy and Our Dad cutting wood, and Sammy cut his foot really bad with ax, scare my Dad to death.
Sammy always had a smile, was a little bit mischievous, but would do anything for anybody, love his girls, and his horses. I think Sammy love the simply life. Wanted everybody to be happy. Didn’t see Sammy that much, but he was a good brother..
