Sammye Brawner Williams

Sammye Brawner Williams passed away January 17, 2026 at Dogwood Assisted Living. She was born October 1, 1940 to the late Sanford and Cora Brawner. She was a 1957 graduate of Biggersville High School.

Known for her wonderful cooking, Sammye never used measurements. Her kitchen was a place where love was measured in laughter and shared with anyone who walked through the door. She filled her home with welcoming hospitality, always ready to invite friends and family to gather, eat and enjoy each other’s company. Sammye was a lady that was full of laughter and joy. She treasured time with her family and the memories made around the table.

In addition to her parents, Sammye was preceded in death by her husband, Willard WIlliams; son, Steven Williams; daughter, Valerie James; brothers, James William Brawner (Doris), Carroll Brawner, and Don Brawner (JoAnn); and sisters, Mary Jane Green (Lloyd), Linda McNair and Sue McDaniel (Bobby).

Sammye is survived by her daughter, Dianne Lambert (Randy); grandchildren, Anna Carlisle (Allen), Jesse James (Tanna) and Abby Smith (Slater); great grandchildren, Hayes Carlisle, Cora Carlisle, Catherine Smith, and Lily Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Due to the recent ice storm, the Celebration of Life service for Sammye has been cancelled. The immediate family will gather at the graveside at a later date. Her family would like to express their gratitude for all the texts, phone calls and visits.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church to the cemetery fund.
