
Funeral services for Ms. Vera Madge Farmer, age 84 of Rienzi, are set for three o’clock Sunday afternoon, September 1, 2013, at McPeters, Inc. Funeral Directors Chapel with Bro. Charles Stephenson and Bro. Tidus Tyer officiating. A private burial will follow in the Vanderford Cemetery.
Ms. Farmer died August 29, 2013 at The Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Booneville. She was born November 7, 1928 in Alcorn Co., MS to the late Jesse C. and Virgie Burcham Williams. Ms. Farmer was united in marriage to David C. Hales, and together they raised five children. Mr. Dales preceded her in death on July 25, 1979. Ms. Farmer was then united in marriage to Rev. Charles Farmer, who also preceded her in death. Ms. Farmer was a member of the Rienzi Baptist Church, where she was very active in the Joy Sunday School Class. She enjoyed reading, growing flowers and working in the yard, solving cross word puzzles, writing poetry, and especially spending time with her friends and family.
Ms. Farmer is survived by three daughters, Gwenda Woodard and husband Larry of Rienzi, Debra Fox and husband Dennis of Holly Springs, and Sara Joyner and husband Blake of Atoka, TN; two sons, Glen and Joel Hales, both of Rienzi; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, her first husband and father of her children, and her second husband, Ms. Farmer was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Wayne “Pete” Williams.
In lieu of floral arrangements, the family requests that memorials in memory of Ms. Farmer be made to a cause in which she cared very deeply for, the Rienzi Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Sandra Williams, Treasurer, P.O. Box 115,?Rienzi, MS 38865.
