William Gerald Mathis Jr.

William was a graduate of Alcorn Central High School Class of 1973. He was a devoted and faithful member of St. James Catholic Church. Mr. Mathis worked at Kimberly Clark for 32 years until his retirement. He loved to travel, carrying his family on numerous road trips and camping excursions. He was an outdoorsman that enjoyed nature. He could be found camping, hunting, and fishing weather permitting. Mr. Mathis will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Above all Mr. Mathis will be known as a family man that put family first. He will forever cherish his wife of 48 years Mrs. Cathy Mathis.

William was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Teresa Diane Mathis and Shelah Mathis Teeters.

Mr. Mathis is survived by his wife, Cathy Mathis; son William "Jess" Mathis (Tori); daughter Mary Katherine "Kate" Hathorn (Samuel); three brothers, Rickey Mathis (Robin), Ronny Mathis, and Terry Mathis; sister, Deborah Smith (Tim); six grandchildren, Liam Mathis, Colette Mathis, Evie Hathorn, Maeve Hathorn, Wright Hathorn, and Taegan Hathorn; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

There is a Celebration of Life Service scheduled for Monday, September 23, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church beginning at two o'clock in the afternoon, with Father Tim Murphy officiating. The family will accept friends beginning at twelve o'clock noon until service time.
