Angie, je veux  t'assurer de mon soutien, je garderai toujours en mémoire l'image de ton mari dont la générosité et la joie de vivre ont été pour moi un exemple. Je souhaite qu'au milieu de tes peines tu puisses montrer un sourire de fierté en te disant : c'était quelqu'un de bien, mon mari.

Hello Angie, tu comprendras que vu l'état de santé de ma petite Ginette, il me sera impossible de m'y rendre demain.

Jerry
I was honoured when Angie asked if I could write a few words about Jerry. But how do I describe Jerry Tucker?  

I met Jerry over 30 years ago when we worked for Granada TV Rental. Then later we worked together at Rogers Telecommunications. 

My first impression of Jerry was that he was reserved and shy but in his own way friendly.  He would not divulge the affairs of others but in quiet moments would talk about how proud he was of his families, especially Angie. You could tell his religious back ground instilled tolerance and acceptance towards others. For that, we thank you. But we know you didn't like not everyone, Jerry! (Ha ha) After all, no one is perfect.

Even with a full house of people, Jerry would still generously open his doors and welcomed more. Jerry loved children. 20 years ago, a little 8 year old boy (Andrew Tanner) can still remember Jerry who gave him his best Christmas ever. I know that Jerry's modesty would not accept accolades, but even Andrew sends his thanks today.   

Jerry was devoted to his families. Along his adventure, I met 2 boys, now men, Stefan and Denis, who came into his live. You know, when boys can call their stepdad Dad in front of his friends I think something was done right.  A little honour, respect maybe.....and knowing Jerry, if you mentioned it to him he would just smile and go to talk about something else. 

I now that as Jerry's physical memories faded over the years but his spiritual foundation remained. Jerry was one who enjoyed ensuring others had fond memories added to other lives. Jerry was certainly a giver, not a taker.

Even though I am a few miles away today, I am very happy that our paths crossed.  Thank you Jerry,  for all your words of wisdom and guidance.  Travel safely my friend.

My dearest uncle Gerry,Thank you for the great memories! (My favorite is still the Leafs vs Habs ticket I gave you at Christmas many years back and having only given you the one ticket assured that I could go as your date! :). The years I spent living in the same home as you, you became as close to me as a dad would be. I still remember the look of joy in your eyes when you met Ava for the first time. You loved her so much. The two of you had a wonderful bond- even if it was only for a short time. Junior (Dirty Dog) will continue to take care of me, as he knows you will be watching from up there (thank you for always looking out for me).
 
It was a blessing to have had you in my life and an honor to have been a part of yours. You are now free, no longer a sparkling spirit stuck in a shell trapped with Alzheimers. We are here for your Angie to take care of her they way you wanted to. We will be strong for her and help her through this difficult time. We will continue to talk about you to Ava and Angélique so that they never forget what a trully wonderful man you were and how lucky they are to have known you. Our memories  will allow you to keep living in our hearts forever. 

We love and miss you so much already and have cried many tears....but knowing you can now watch over us is what brings us peace. 

Merci uncle Gerry.....'til we meet again

Dad you were one of a kind.  I was one of the luckiest people to have such a gentle, loving, caring father.  I remember every Saturday night the TV was yours to watch you favorite team the Toronto Maple Leafs.  You taught me to live, laugh, love and enjoy life to the fullest. You were my mentor and friend. You were a hockey and baseball coach and sometimes a dance coach.  You came to all my figure skating parties, baseball games and dance recitals. All my friends called you dad when they saw you.  When you became a grandfather it filled my heart with pride to watch you with your grandsons.  I will not say goodbye.  But I will say "see you later dad"  Love you always and forever.  My heart is full of so much pride and memories.  It was an honor to of had you for my father.

I can remember Uncle Gerald coming to our house to watch Leaf games with Dad (Ross Elliott).  I can also remember visiting him in Elmvale when I was little and thinking how cool it was to be living in the country.  At time we were living in Toronto. I will miss him and his smile.  RIP Uncle Gerald.
