Brenden Raymond Brinkworth

September 10, 1993January 11, 2015

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Brenden Brinkworth. Brenden Raymond Brinkworth passed away at the age of 21, on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Brenden will be forever loved by his fiancé Scott Thibault and his family. Brenden is survived by his loving and devoted parents Gilda (Lalonde) and Colin Brinkworth, his sister Shawna (Jay Nicholson), his brother Derrick and nephew Benjamin. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents Raymond and Marina Lalonde; predeceased by his paternal grandparents Ron and Joy Brinkworth. Also surviving and mourning his loss are his aunts and uncles; Sheril & Allan Gauthier, Jon & Jo Ann, Clive & Sandy, Keith & Lillian - Brinkworth’s; Randy & Wendy, Roddy & Anne, Ray Jr, Chris and Trish, Tania (Thomas Viola) – Lalonde’s and Ron Keenan; along with 28 first cousins who loved him dearly and Jacqueline Lalonde & Kelsey Hurrell. His diagnosis, 5 years ago, of pulmonary hypertension, brought many special medical professionals into his and his family’s life; especially Dr George Chandy and nurse Caroline Doyle-Cox and the special nurses & doctors in the Heart Institute Cardiac Intensive Care unit. Jacqueline Lalonde for her dedication to not only Brenden & the family, but to the PH cause in raising awareness. Their unbelievable support and dedication is the reason for the family to ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Brenden’s name to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada, or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. A celebration of Brenden’s life will take place on Saturday January 17, 2015 from 9am until service in the chapel of the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, 341 Pitt Street (across from city hall) Cornwall at 10am. Rite of Committal to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. Memorial donations to Pulmonary Hypertension Association appreciated.

Dear Gilda, Colin, Shawna , Derrick, Scott and family Thank you so much for allowing me to be by Brenden's side throughout the last days of his life. The loss of someone dear to us is never easy, but may you take comfort in knowing that you are surrounded by family & friends that love and care for you, if there is anything I can do, please don't hesitate to let me know. After the tears have dried and the goodbyes have been said, all we have to hold onto are the happy memories that we've shared with our loved ones who have passed, this is what keeps them alive in our hearts and in our minds, and they will continue to live on, through us. Let's continue spreading awareness of Pulmonary Hypertension within our communiities. Brenden would be honoured, together we can make a difference.
Love Jacqueline Brandwood & family
