MITCHELL, Christie Evelyn "Kawennanoron” (Precious Words) - died at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday September 3, 2013. She was born May 18, 1924 in Cornwall Island, ON. Dear mother of Larry, David (Jackie), James, Esther, Margaret, Darlene. Survived by one sister Sarah Day. She married John Mitchell in 1940, She went to school on the Reservation and was a communicant of the St. Regis Catholic Church. She was a Chamber maid along with her sister Anna May in Rochester NY and a basket maker. Her hobbies and Interests, in her younger days, she played pool, shuffle board, softball (as a catcher), she also enjoyed basket making, playing bingo and loved playing Ace to King and was a pro, making up her own rules! Most cherished were all her family gatherings. Her attributes were very good at math and had a vivid memory for numbers. She is survived by 7 children: Dave & Jackie Mitchell, Esther Jock, James (the Butler) & Diane, Margaret & Mike Mitchell, Larry & Barbara Mitchell, Darlene & Harlon Jacobs, 2 God Sons – Lawrence& Elliott Mitchell, 36 Grandchildren, 78 Great Grandchildren, 9 Great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is pre-deceased by: Husband John Mitchell October 24, 1978, Son – Noah Mitchell on Aug 20, 1995 and Daughter – Gladys Mitchell – Smoke Oct 24, 2007, One infant Great – great Grandson Leelan Henry Oct 4, 2012 and by 6 Siblings: Mary Seymour, John Thompson, Joe Thompson, Anna May Martin, Theresa David and Hattie Thompson. Visitation at her residence on Thursday and Friday. Funeral on Saturday September 7, 2013 at her home at 11am. Burial to follow at Parish Cemetery, St. Regis.
