Kingma, Gerardus “Garry” – The angel finally called Garry home where he has once again reunited with his son. It is with profound sadness that the Kingma family announces his passing on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at his residence at the age of 73 years.
He was the loving father of Sarah Nuttall (Steve) and Donna Kerr (Brian) and adored Grampa of Nolan Kerr, Hannah-Lee, Emma and Leah Nuttall.
Garry leaves behind his dear siblings; Nellie of Russell, ON, Annalesa of The Netherlands, Ida Melen (Terry) of Tucson, AZ, Helena of Brockville, ON, Nico of The Netherlands, and John Kingma (late Bonnie) of London, ON.
Not one to sit idly, Garry kept himself busy through all seasons: in summer he was an avid gardener, and spent all of his time tending to a large garden in order to produce vegetables for his family, friends and the Agape.
In the wintertime he would be busy cutting and stockpiling wood, or clearing neighbours’ driveways. He loved “The Simpsons” and often quoted Homer as his “idol”. Anyone who knew Garry referred to him as a kind and gentle soul who would give the shirt off his back. He was always smiling, always friendly, and forever willing to sit down for a beer or a coffee to just chat. He will be greatly missed by his family and many cherished friends who he held close to his heart.
Predeceased by his parents John and Helena (née Hettinga) Kingma and by his son Ryan Kingma.
In following with his wishes, a private visitation will be held at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, 20 Seventh Street West, Cornwall, ON. (613) 932-8482. A private Chapel Service will be held, with interment to follow with his son, at Salem United Cemetery in Summerstown, ON
As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations to the Agape Centre would be appreciated by the family. Messages of Condolence may be left at www.lahaiesullivan.ca.
