It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Gerda Nielsen (née Hovik) at Sandfield Place Long Term Care Home with her son and daughter-in-law by her side on Monday, February 12, 2024 at the age of 97.
She was the loving wife of the late Verner Nielsen; cherished mother of Ted Nielsen (Donna); treasured grandmother of Sarah Benton (Chris) and Scott Nielsen, and G.G. of Milo, Theo, Toby and Joey.
Gerda is predeceased by her parents Andreas and Astrid (née Knudsen) Hovik; her brothers Georg Hovik (late Oddny) and Sverr Hovik, as well as her sister Borgoild Hovik.
The family would like to thank Sandfield Place Long Term Care Home for the outstanding care Gerda received.
In keeping with Gerda’s wishes cremation has taken place.
Family will be in attendance at LAHAIE AND SULLIVAN WEST BRANCH, 20 SEVENTH STREET W, CORNWALL on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2024 between the hours of 10:00AM and 11:00AM prior to a Funeral Service that will be held in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home at 11:00AM.
Memorial Donations to the Children’s Treatment Centre Cornwall, Ontario; or to Sandfield Place Long Term Care Home would be appreciated by the family.
