Here is a little story about our lives together. When we first met I looked in his beautiful blue eyes, the love that I saw in them for me was amazing. I know God gave him to me. I must have done something right in my life to have deserved a man like him. He had picked this song, “You had me from hello”, and his heart skipped a beat. We never went anywhere without holding hands and now my hands are empty. We always said, “I love you” every day. A lot of the time we said it more than once a day. We loved riding our motorcycle. He loved working on cars. He was a miracle when fixing them, no matter what make or model it was. He loved to read books and newspapers. He was the smartest man I know and he loved listening to the news as well. We liked our bonfires and I’m sure that our neighbors thought that we were going to burn their field down. His favorite vacation place was Cuba. Before he passed he wanted to visit Cuba and his wish came true. I could go on and write a book about his life and maybe one day I may. I do want to thank John Poapst for being there for him and me. Gilles and John had some great conversations back in the shop. He is a true friend to us. I can't thank him enough for being there for Gilles.
To everyone who didn't know my dad he has been fighting with cancer for the past few months almost for an entire year. I say with sadness in my heart that today at 1:10am eastern Pacific time August 15 2017 my father has passed away. I greatly love my dad and have for years. He has shared so many good memories with me and taught me so many things in my life that I am proud to call him my dad. He was the best mechanic I've ever known and know no one better. Also the best truck driver in the world with a couple million miles without a single accident in his entire life and record. He was a stubborn man but a loving father and will always have him in my heart. With the time we went to Cuba, New Brunswick, 1000 islands, Newfoundland etc. All those places we went together and had all the fun in the world. We fixed all kinds of cars together and he even took part in the races at the speedway in our area. My dad had many surprises and knowledge hidden behind all doors and I am happy that he showed me just about all of them.
R.I.P. Gilles Berniquer my loving dad ❤
