Our family has lost our braveheart, Jonathan Cressy Handy, who passed peacefully, surrounded by his best friend, his wife Brenda, and his family, after a short, courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, November 19th, 2021. Jon is survived by his loving wife Brenda Walker-Handy and his children Bryan Handy (Julia), Heather Handy (Jeremiah) and Ashley Handy (Donnie). Much loved grandfather to Blair, Tucker, Miah, and Brielle. Jon is also survived by his devoted and caring siblings Penny Stokes (Rob), Peter Handy (Barb), and David Handy (Brenda), and much loved by many nieces and nephews. Jon is predeceased by his mother Hazelann and his father Colin. He is also predeceased by his brother Richard Handy.

Jon so loved his work at TMI Climate Solutions in Pointe Claire, Quebec, where he worked as a CAD programmer, and befriended all he met. Jon enjoyed the game of golf with his brothers Pete and David, and his buddy Brendon Hunt. Jon also loved playing his Joe Satriani guitar, camping, cycling and kayaking. Many thanks to the Walker family for the rigorous training program. Jon loved every moment of it! Special thanks to Brendon and Karen Hunt who took Jon on as a little brother, in the Big Brother program 48 years ago and strong. Everlasting love xxxooo.

A private celebration of Jon’s life will be attended by family and close friends at Lahaie and Sullivan Funeral Homes West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482).

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Cornwall Hospice and the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Jonny, I have many wonderful memories of our happy times we spent together. From our family gatherings in Martintown and Apple Hill and your visits to Alberta, they were the best of times. We braved the gale force winds of the prairies as we camped, scaled the peaks of the Rocky Mountains and enjoyed nature at its best. Your good nature, honesty and integrity made you the fun loving and well loved man we admired. I will remember forever your contagious laugh and big smile. Rest In Peace my brother.

Dear brother, I will miss our conversations, your visits, the laughter. I wish you had had more time with your children and grandchildren, lots more golf games, and many more camping trips with your wife who loved you so. Lots of love, your big sister xoxoxo xoxoxo

Our deepest condolences to Jon’s family and close friends. We are so very sad for you and for our dear Brenda.
It feels like just yesterday when Brenda introduced us to Jon. From day one he fit in with the Walker dynamics and adapted to the family craziness. He often sat patiently, watching it all unfold and waiting for the conversation to pause long enough so he could respectfully add his thoughts. He was always ready for a good debate and enjoyed the banter.
Jon and Brenda were present for every family holiday and birthday gathering. His absence will leave a big void at the next Holiday dinner table.
Jon was a kind soul and he brought true joy to Brenda. They were like ‘peas and carrots’.
Jon, thank you for the joy you brought Brenda and our family. You will be dearly missed. ❤️
Love Brent, Brigitte, Bianca & Julia Walker

Jon, we will certainly miss your quirkiness and the liveliness that you brought to our dinner time conversations. No one loved a head to toe Under Armour outfit quite like you Jon, and I will always think of you when I wear my under armour (which I have been gifted plenty of thanks to you and Brenda).
Thank you for loving my aunt so deeply, for letting us gab while you cleaned up the dinner dishes, and for always making us laugh on camping trips. You will be deeply missed my friend. I’m sure you have been reunited with dear sweet Minou- please give him a kiss for me!!! Godspeed- KT

I remember when John meant Brenda , her and I would walk at the complex and see Jon all the time and they would chat as they new each other from past years . I told Brenda he seems like a really nice person and I think he’s interested in you and of course the rest is history. Jon you will be greatly missed RIP
