Mary was the beloved wife of Andre Lacelle, her devoted husband of nearly 60 years. Married in 1966, their love story was one of enduring partnership, unwavering support, and deep affection that stood as an example to all who knew them.
Mary leaves behind her children Mike Lascelle (Liane) and Lisa Dunham (Brian) who will miss her dearly. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Rebecca Byrne (Chris), Josh Lascelle, Ethan Lascelle (Erica), Cody Lacelle, Brittany Lacelle, Quinn Lacelle, Ella Lacelle, and Sarah Szelid. Her legacy continues through her treasured great-grandchildren Darcey, Finnegan, Logan, Hayden, Hayley, and Hannah, each of whom brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her siblings: Eileen Lalonde (Bernard), Syd Bergeron (the late Connie), Jean Quesnel (the late Hubert), Marguerite Seguin (the late Leo), Anita Brunet (Wayne) and Bernice Gibeau (Rolland).
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Ella Mae (née Willard) and Joseph Bergeron, as well as her cherished children Tammy, who passed away in infancy, Larry Lacelle (Tara) and her brothers Joseph, Donald, and infant siblings Earnest, Edith and Muriel.
Mary was a talented writer whose words had a way of touching hearts and bringing people together. She had a rare gift for connection — whether through her writing or with her writing club called WIN, her laughter, or her warm conversations. Many in the community came to know and love her during her years working at Jean’s Bargain Store, where she became a familiar and friendly face to generations of customers. Mary had a way of making everyone feel welcome, heard, and valued and everyone grew to adore her as a result. She was passionate about genealogy, her charity work and her column in the Glengarry News.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lahaie & Sullivan West Branch (613-932-8482). A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 14, 2026 at the Best Western 1515 Vincent Massey Dr, Cornwall, ON K6H 5R6 in the Cabaret Room between the hours of 1:00PM to 3:00PM. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolences may be left at www.lahaiesullivan.ca.
