She now joins her late husband Douglas George Scott (2016), daughter Melissa Scott (2020) and baby Shelley Leaney (1963).
Born and raised in the Cornwall area she took great pride in her work at various restaurants, Red Cross and a calendar and game shop, but it must be said, that being a supportive wife and dedicated mom was always her top priority.
Mary’s warm and wonderful smile, gentle nature and understanding ways touched many. She frequently offered a non-judgmental compassionate ear and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life was unrivaled.
She was an avid and passionate animal lover that advocated and came to the aide of many during her life. In her past time she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, flower gardening and painting.
Mary had courage, tenacity and grace to such a degree that it was truly humbling. Even in her final days she did not complain, but maintained her quiet strength and continued to emanate kindness and concern about the well-being of others.
Mary will be missed greatly by her daughter and best friend Kimberley Scott to which the loss has left a profound void and by Skyler and Atlas Farley to which she was such a proud grandmother as well by her nephew Jerry Derouchie.
She will also be missed by her many acquaintances, friends, nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is survived by her children Bernard Leaney and Carrie Scott and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Predeceased by her parents Bernard and Agnes (née Lessley) Vandrick and by her father John McPhail and siblings.
In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lahaie & Sullivan Funeral Home West Branch (20 Seventh Street West) 613-932-8482.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to IFAW https://www.ifaw.org/ca-en would be appreciated by the family.
