

It is with deepest sadness, and a very heavy heart that Sandra Ware announces the passing of her beloved partner and best friend of the past nine years, Mr. Michael Veley. Michael was 68 and passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Cornwall Community Hospital on February 13, 2017. He is survived by his loving daughter Sydney Meulendyk (David) of Melancthon ON from his first marriage to Roberta Taman. He will be deeply missed by his three grandchildren, Azaria, Joshua and Eve. Michael will also be missed by many close friends and family members including former spouse Katrine Kruders. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Luella and Rudy Veley, and two sisters, Carol Anne, and Patsy. Michael was born and raised in Cornwall ON. He held many occupations over the years the last being custodian for the Royal Canadian Legion. Music was a big passion in Michael's life. He was often writing down lyrics to songs, and he enjoyed nothing more than to strum on his guitar. He loved poetry, reading, and camping. He was a longtime legionnaire of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 297 where he enjoyed playing golf, pool and darts. Animals always held a special place in his heart, and he had many cherished pets in his life. Michael was a kind, loving person, who will always be remembered as a poet, a romantic and the greatest thing since sliced bread. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to M. John Sullivan 341Pitt St. (across from City Hall). A celebration of Michael’s life will take place on Thursday February 16, 2017 at 2 pm with a small service at 4pm. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the OSPCA of S, D, & G.
