McCabe, Robert- With his family by his side on September 27th, a beautiful fall Sunday morning, Robert (Bob) James McCabe left us peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 4 days into his 84th year. He leaves behind the love of his life Theresa (Deneault), who he married 62 short years ago. He also leaves behind his sons, Robert (Lisa) and their daughters, Michaella and Samantha, Perry (Nicole) and their boys, Jeremy and Connor. Predeceased by his parents, Simone (Lalonde) and Gerald and his siblings, Margaret, Raymond, Ronald, and John. Survived by Vivianne, Claire and Shirley. Bob worked in numerous mills across the city as a welder and millwright. If it was broke, Bob could fix it. From renovating a house, to sleeping on a couch so the dog did not feel alone, Bob was always willing to help his boys. He loved to spend time outside, especially in the garden where the bugs never seemed to bother him. Bob also had a quick, hearty laugh, that always made others smile. Bob is gone now, and he will not soon be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of putting family first, that will continue with his next generation. We will miss him deeply. The family would like to thank Dr. Menon and the staff at hospice for the kindness and compassion during Bob’s last days. An online remembrance service will be held at a future date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer society would be appreciated. Cremation services entrusted to the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, 341 Pitt Street (across from city hall) Cornwall.

Tante Thérèse, Bobby, Perry, et famille,

I remember the day that Oncle Bob came over to let us know that he had been diagnosed with Prostate cancer. It was that same day that my Bob (Dad) would later that day find out that he had lung cancer. Holding on to the good memories is what has gotten me through my loss. I have good memories of Oncle Bob and can say without doubt that he was loved and will be deeply missed. My most sincere sympathies to all of you, and my wish that you will smile as you recall all of the precious good memories.

To Mrs. McCabe, Robert and Perry,

I remember your dad growing up as such a kind and gentle man. His door was always open to us to drop by and hang out with you and our friends (I still remember the "flymow" lawnmower he had, and even let us try it!).

May he rest in peace in the grace of God, he will be missed.

Kindly,

Don Bourget

A brother in law whose memories won't soon fade. No one can argue that he was a great husband, great father/ grand father, a great man all around with much devotion to family and faith. Deepest condolences to my sister and wonderful family. Do grieve his departure but not his destiny, as he will be met with open arms and given his eternal reward and forever home while waiting to reunite with his loved ones. Rest in peace Mon oncle Bob. We love you
