Annoucka “Annoushka” Marguerite Roc-Asare, born on December 12, l963 in Jacmel, Haiti to parents, Hervé Roc and Nicole Volel-Roc, both of blessed memories, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2018 in Orange County, California. Nounou, as she was affectionately called is a beloved wife of Charles Asare; mother to Kofi Asare; dearest sister of Jean-Baptist Roc, Myriam Pierre-Antoine, Shina Roc-Bassett and Margareth Ilvert-Roc; cherished auntie to Philippe, Jr., Alexia, Ruben, Nicole, Colette and Eva.
While growing up in Rogers Park in Chicago, Annoucka honed her irreverent sense of humor and pursued a love of dance at the prestigious Whitney Young Magnet High School. She went on to earn degrees in Liberal Arts and Business Management from Felician College and Northeastern Illinois University, before sashaying up to Los Angeles, CA to escape the much-hated Chicago winters once and for all. Prior to her short and sudden illness, she was an Account Director, Group Sales, Starwood Hotels & Resorts (Marriott International). She has been in Hospitality Management, with considerable experience in prospecting, sales, and contract negotiations for over 20 years, having worked for luxury properties like Ritz-Carlton, Hyatt, The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills, Four Seasons Hotels & resorts, and others.
Annoushka was a beautiful, outgoing, and polished lady, with impeccable manners and a high sense of decency. Her life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her will understand that the quality of her existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which she lived.
She had a generous spirit, was altruistic, and derived lots of pleasure from watching her family and friends; particularly her nieces and nephews succeed. Indeed, Annoushka was the “cool aunt” to rule all “cool aunts”. The type most kids only wish they had— whisking them across the globe on epic adventures, booking luxurious spa days and ensuring that six varieties of the finest chocolate milk are in her refrigerator when they come visiting. The type of aunt that revels in their successes and was always there to help them at the drop of a hat.
She brought so much joy to her husband, family and friends. She was a bridge amongst family and friends. She had a genuine, warm and welcoming personality, and a cunning ability to draw out those special happy moments in everyone’s lives.
Nounou was strong and cheerful until the very end, never losing her faith even on some of the most difficult and painful days.
Her giving heart and faith reminds us of the preciousness and precariousness of life.
In Life, partings come and hearts are broken,
Loved ones go with words unspoken,
Deep in our hearts there's a memory kept,
For a Husband, Family and Friends, we will NEVER forget Annoushka!
