Barbara Salomon Spitz

She is survived by her three children, Thomas Spitz (Susan), Linda Shipp, and Joanne Spitz (John Dee) and her three grandchildren, Jonathan Shipp, Scott Spitz and Emily Spitz.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lawrence, her parents, Fred Bernard Salomon and Sadie Lorch Salomon, her brother Richard L. Salomon, her stepmother Mildred Collat Salomon and her sister Helen Liebman.

Barbara attended Francis Parker School (Chicago, Illinois), The Art Institute of Chicago, Rhode Island School of Design and she earned an AB was from Pembroke College (Brown University).

She was an accomplished artist. Her work in intaglio etching, oil painting and photography are part of many private art collections, galleries in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles as well as the permanent collections in The Chicago Art Institute, The Philadelphia Museum of Art and De Cordova Museum (Boston). She was a supporter of the Newport Harbor Art Museum and a member of the Arts Club of Chicago and the Society of America Graphic Artists.

Barbara and Lawrence traveled the world. They visited all 7 continents and some of them multiple times.

Barbara was a wonderful mother, grandmother, devoted wife and a gifted artist. She will be missed.
