Catie loved the sport of basketball and was a varsity teammate for El Modena High School for the 2024 – 2025 season. Catie was a recruited athlete and received multiple scholarships for colleges and Universities, and was accepted to the University of Nevada Las Vegas; the University of New Mexico; the University of Northern Colorado; Colorado Mesa College; Montana State University; and Appalachian State University.
In addition, Catie was an avid horticulturalist and enjoyed tending to her plants, whom she called her “children”. Catie was involved in her school’s gardening program and was an “Orange Home Grown” scholarship recipient.
Catie wanted to serve her country as a United States Marine, and was in the process of competing to attend one of the Service Academies. Catie recently received a congressional nomination from Congresswoman Kim of the 40th Congressional District to attend the United States Naval Academy, following in the footsteps of her grandfather John Estes, Class of 1959. Catie would have been the fourth generation to serve in the United States military, along with her great grandfathers, grandfather Jack, and career United States Air Force officer parents.
Catie was a positive influence to her teammates and friends, and will be remembered for her impact on many lives. Catie’s ever present energy, smile, humor, and love will be missed by all. Catie is survived by her parents, Michael and Kimberly, and loving sister Olivia.
A celebration of life service will be held in Lafayette, CO at Flatirons Church on 10 Jan at noon MT.
