Connie S. Smith

Smith, Connie Sue, 66, of Santa Ana, CA passed away May 25, 2016, following a sudden illness. Connie was born on August 10th, 1949 in Orange, CA. She graduated from Estancia High School in 1967. Connie was a proud Marine wife and mother first. She worked as an Instructional Assistant and Office Manager for McFadden Junior H.S. where both her children graduated, and as a Registrar and Activity Supervisor at Santa Ana Valley H.S. She became a special friend to all who knew her. Connie loved holidays and was ready for any reason to gather with family and friends to celebrate and enjoy the company of those she loved, including her weekly gatherings with the Red Hats, book club, Bible study, bingo, and her church fellowship. She married John R. Smith on August 21, 1971, and lived in Michigan briefly before returning to California in 1972. She enjoyed traveling to many sites around the country during her husband's military career, living in Ocean Springs, MS in 1988 and Virginia Beach, VA in 1989 before returning to her and John's home in Santa Ana in 1990. They again moved to Virginia Beach in 1992 and lived there until 1997 when they moved back again to their original home, where she lived until her passing. Survivors include her husband, John Smith; son, Brad Ewald of Menifee, CA; daughter Diane Reichert, Oceanside, CA; brothers, Jim Whitegon of Anza, CA, and David Whitegon, Laguna Beach, CA. Connie had three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11:00 AM on June 11th at California Victory Church 1518, Suite 19, Brookhollow Drive, Santa Ana, CA 92705, followed by a 2:15 PM graveside service at Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Dr. Corona Del Mar, CA. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 PM on Thursday, June 9th at Pacific View Memorial Park.
