David was born in 1924 to immigrant parents who had come to America in hope of a better life.
Like so many of the Greatest Generation, he willingly enlisted in the Navy immediately after the
bombing of Pearl Harbor. He served honorably in the South Pacific as a deep sea diver, repairing the
landing craft after they hit the beaches. After the war, like so many other heroes he returned to the
U.S. and sought to create the life that America promised.
David was always able to make friends and was funny and lively especially after he had a cocktail or 2.
He was often the life of the party.
David put the welfare of his family above all. He worked very hard to provide for his wife, Helen, and his
son, Mitchell. He worked well into his nineties. When Helen became ill, he tenderly cared for her until
her passing.
David was kind and friendly, even as his own health began to fail. He stopped driving his gorgeous Lexus
convertible when he felt he was no longer a safe driver. We can still see him and Helen driving off with
the top down.
He was beloved by his caretakers. He remained mentally engaged until his last few days.
We were fortunate to have him for so long. He was a blessing and we will miss him dearly. Go in peace
David. We will love you until our last breaths.
