Dhehinie is a Chemist by profession and a passionate Chemistry Teacher. She has been teaching chemistry for over 30 years. She was a Chemistry Teacher at the Open University of Sri Lanka before immigrated to US for her graduate studies. She obtained her MS (Chemistry) from USF, San Francisco and Ph.D (Chemistry) from Wayne State University, Michigan. After a Post-doctoral fellowship at University of Toronto, she migrated back to US and settled in Orange county with her husband Ananda Seneviratne and have been living there for the last 12 years. She continued to teach chemistry from home for high school, college and university students. She is survived by her parents in Sri Lanka, husband Ananda and her sisters Indu, Preethi, Chathu and Samanthi. She loved working out at the gym and always maintained a healthy and spiritual life. She was a strong Buddhist who practiced all 5 precepts and meditated frequently.
